MetrumRG is excited to welcome CJ Godfrey, Ph.D. to his new role as Vice President, PKPD, Quantitative Science, reporting to Bill Knebel, President Quantitative Sciences. CJ was formerly serving as the Vice President of Strategic Business Development and was appointed Interim Vice President of PKPD in January 2023
In his new role, CJ will lead, guide, and direct the strategy of the PKPD group. He joins a multidisciplinary leadership team charged with developing innovative solutions to impact biomedical decision-making. CJ will work with clients to provide scientific and strategic oversight to inform decision-making and strengthen regulatory submissions. Additionally, CJ will work with MetrumRG’s Vice President of Statistics and Vice President of TSP to plan and implement cross-disciplinary projects. He will maintain a significant managerial role, overseeing professional and scientific development of a world-class team of PKPD scientists.
“CJ’s broad clinical knowledge coupled with his ability to manage teams and his understanding of drug development and pharmacometrics makes him the perfect person to serve in this role,” Knebel said. “During his 10 years at MetrumRG, CJ has proven himself to be an indispensable member of the team. He has served in his most recent two roles with excellence, and we look forward to supporting him as he transitions into this next position.”
CJ initially joined MetrumRG in 2013 as Principal Scientist II, Group Leader, PKDK, and was later promoted to Group Leader, Strategic Decision Sciences, followed by Group Leader, Clinical Pharmacology. Over the course of his tenure at MetrumRG, CJ has developed into a successful, respected, and influential leader who is admired by both his superiors and team members.
CJ has 23 years of drug development experience in both industry and consulting roles and has been applying pharmacometric methods to PK/PD/outcome analysis and decision support for 27 years. His clinical experience spans a broad range of biomarker, safety, and efficacy endpoints, with particular emphasis on oncology, rare diseases, inflammation, and viral diseases.
CJ received his graduate training in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD) with a focus on clinical pharmacometrics, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from University of Connecticut. He has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented on clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics at national and international symposia, and holds several patents.
In his spare time, CJ enjoys hanging out with his family, keeping up with the latest Marvel and Star Wars episodes, and turning beautiful bowls from domestic and exotic wood.
