IMG_2632 2We're excited to shine the spotlight on Kiersten Utsey, a valued member of our team here at MetrumRG. Her primary focus involves utilizing mechanistic modeling and simulation to support decision-making processes throughout various stages of drug development. This entails synthesizing data from diverse sources, including in vitro studies, animal models, and clinical trials, to construct models that describe both the mechanism of action of drugs and the underlying physiology of diseases. Kiersten initially joined MetrumRG as a Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Intern while working on her Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Utah. After graduating from the U, Kiersten transitioned into a role as a research associate at MetrumRG. Quickly advancing, she became a research scientist in our Translational Science and Pharmacology (TSP) group.

Kiersten values being a member of the MetrumRG team due to the collaborative atmosphere and her smart, passionate co-workers who are always eager to share their knowledge. Furthermore, Kiersten deeply values the company’s guiding principles, particularly "Growth of the Science and Technology.” She feels this commitment to openness, reproducibility, and transparency is unique to MetrumRG and plays an important role in helping move the whole field of pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology forward.

In addition to her professional career, she finds joy in a variety of activities, including baking, immersing herself in literature, and cherishing quality time with her husband. A new homeowner, Kiersten has embarked on a journey to explore gardening, further enriching her life with new experiences and knowledge. Topping Kiersten's bucket list is a visit to Greece. Fascinated by its rich history, cultural heritage, and breathtaking landscapes, she dreams of immersing herself in the country's profound influences, including its contributions to ancient mathematics.

When it comes to staying active, Kiersten gravitates towards yoga and indoor cycling. With the arrival of warmer weather, she’s eager to indulge in outdoor activities such as hiking.

What others say about Kiersten:

“Kiersten is an invaluable member of our TSP modeling group. Her utterly reliable and methodical mind, paired with excellent communication skills, are an asset we rely on for internal and external projects. Kiersten has become a subject matter expert in bispecific antibodies - a modality that brings unique challenges to us QSP modelers. The TSP group and Kiersten's project teams rely on her calm presence and attention to detail as we tackle those challenges together”
