ThomasKenney-3-PrintIn this month’s Employee Spotlight, we’re excited to feature Thomas Kenney, MetrumRG’s  Administrative Assistant and member of the Talent & Culture Team. Thomas's role is integral to the smooth functioning of our office. He is responsible for various clerical and organizational tasks, assists with monthly expense reporting, and ensures that our office is always stocked with a variety of coffee—a task that he humorously notes might be the most important of all.

What do you like most about working at MetrumRG?

"It's hard to choose what I like most about working here. Before joining the civilized working world, the majority of my experience was in fast-paced and high-stress emergency service jobs. I used to work in dimly lit, windowless rooms from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with a group of over-caffeinated EMTs, police officers, firefighters, and dispatchers.

Working here, I've been given the opportunity to utilize all of the skills I obtained in my previous career while working in a beautiful office during normal human waking hours. Everyone I've met here is a great person who is always willing to help out or offer guidance. The benefits, the hours, the mission, the attention to individual employees' wellness, and the ability to work from home if life happens first thing in the morning—I never would have believed a company like this existed if I wasn't experiencing it myself."

Which of MetrumRG's core values is the most important to you and why?

image"I find MetrumRG's guiding principle of work/life balance to be the most important. I have two young kids and a third on the way, due in November. Being around at night to play outside before the sun goes down, reading them bedtime stories, and putting them to bed are activities I missed out on during the first three years of being a parent.

Since starting here, I've been able to return to strength training, go back to school online, and be fully present with my family. I can't overstate how much I appreciate that the company is truly dedicated to its employees' well-being."

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“In my downtime, I enjoy painting miniatures, mainly for Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar, playing video games, taking on woodworking projects, and training for strongman competitions.”

If you watch TV, what was the last show you binge-watched?

"I've been watching Bluey and reruns of kids' TV shows like Bear in the Big Blue House, Rolie Olie Polie, Kick Buttowski, and Hannah Montana on DisneyPlus with my kids. Other than that, I don't watch TV."

If working out is a priority for you, what is your workout of choice?

"I am an amateur strongman, so I spend a lot of time training. My favorite events to train for are loading medleys, log press, viking press, heavy yoke carry, and farmer's carries for speed. My next competition is on October 26 at the 3rd Annual Viking Classic in Oakville, CT at Steel Beach."

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

"Tim Dillon. His blend of conspiracy theorist, comedian, and sarcastic Americana historian would make him a great guest for dinner."

Thomas’s transition from high-stress emergency service jobs to his role at MetrumRG is a testament to his adaptability and dedication. We are grateful to have him on our team, and his contributions to our office culture and efficiency are deeply valued.
